I am a graphic artist and filmmaker with interests that lie in video and performance art, critical writing, photography, music production, sound design and creative direction.
Ableton Live (music software) and Final Cut Pro are my main tools when creating my video work and are key elements in my creative process.
As a filmmaker I aim to create abstract pieces that create tension and suspense as well as evoke an emotive response from an audience. I try to achieve this through quick cuts, framing my shots in interesting ways and sometimes using frames of purely black so the audience can focus on the sound and atmosphere. And when creating my films’ aesthetic, abstraction and atmosphere or “feel” are my prime concerns.
Collaboration is also an element of my practice as an artist and filmmaker. Teaming up with other artists from the same or other fields of art and design is one of the joys I have as a creative. Working with and alongside specialists to reach a mutually desired goal is a method of working that I excel in and thoroughly enjoy.
Ultimately I am a man with lots of ideas and creative vision, and I will try any multitude of mediums and methods to achieve whatever idea or vision I want to materialize.
I want to end this section with a quote from American radio producer and host Ira Glass, where he describes perfectly my thoughts as a creative. He ends by giving some words that have continually encouraged me through this stage of my career, as an artist and designer – and it goes like so.
