Framed by my general research into art in the post-digital era, this research rejuvenates ideas from early modernism through the exploitation of new technologies. In particular, this work builds on my previous research into digital-cubism, with a new focus on drawing and painting. A Microsoft Kinect device is first used as a crude 3D scanner. The captured point clouds are then 'drawn into' using a graphics tablet or iPad to generate the final images.

Max-Inner-Medium
The size of the points of the cloud that this painting is based on were medium-sized. I'm now working on the course-resolution painting that will make up the third part of the triptych.

Max-Inner-Fine
I spent about 30 hours painting into this one. My Bamboo iPad stylus is definitely starting to wear out.

EdwardKinectiPad2b
Derived from the same point cloud as EdwardKinectiPad2a, from a slightly different angle. Probably about 5 hours worth of painting-in involved in the production of this.

Max1
Another Kinect/iPad painting. Spent a bit longer on this. Not quite happy with level of abstraction, but getting to grips with painting technique. Using a Wacom Bamboo pen on the iPad. Better than my stubby finger.

Kinect/iPad painting 3
This is my favourite so far.

I've been doing some painting over the summer. A Microsoft Kinect was involved in the process at some point.
